In what appeared to be then "red carpet" night for teaching awards, Ms. Ellen Fisher won her first Teacher of the Year award.  As she dazzled down the red carpet, stopping and posing for pictures, Ann Curry from the Today Show asked why she thought she had won this award.

Ms. Fisher responded after many years at UNM and through following her heart at CNM she has come to realize how to be the a great teacher and parent.  With her award winning novel called Green Earth she has been able to teach her students and children through nature and not political agendas.

There were several peers, environmentalist, and other teachers that were all there to congratulate her on what is an epic day for her.  One student quoted " I really do have someone to look up to now" While in the background you can hear chanting and harmony all at once.

During the acceptance speech she thanked God, but did not Tebow, her parents, family, and all the teachers that put up with her through out all the years.  As she was leaving the grand finale she, of course, fell down the stairs cause she is known to be quite clumsy but she just laughed it off.  Congratulations to the Teacher of the Year, Ms. Ellen Fisher. We thank you for all that you do.

  1. Congrats Ms. Fisher on your amazing award and thank you for not Tebowing! It's great that your students look up to you and I am curious about your use of nature being incorporated into your teaching. What classes do you teach and how do other teachers feel about you not following the political agenda? Again, congrats and hope you don't get hurt in your fall!

  2. Congratulations Ms.Fisher on your teacher of the year award and on the publication of your novel. It is so important in our present time to be aware of the earth and teach students to appreciate all the beauty and lessons nature has to offer. It's easy to get lost in the technological world as a child and lose sight of other such novelties. From one clutz to another, falls and spills happen. At least you know how to pick yourself up and keep it all going again.
